The O2 arena
Tuesday 21 February
Taking place in London’s O2 arena, the 2012 ceremony will once again be hosted by James Corden. Last year, rapper Tinie Tempah won both Best British Single and Best British Breakthrough Act, Mumford & Sons scooped the coveted Best British album award for Sigh No More and Adele stole the show with a captivating performance of her chart-topping single, Someone Like You.
This year’s awards are still tightly under wraps, but there have been a few announcements to whet the appetite of the scores of people who try to obtain tickets each year. The Scottish R&B singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé has already been voted the winner of the 2012 Critics’ Choice award and will receive one of the new Peter Blake-designed trophies. Blake is perhaps best known as the artist who created the album cover for The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
It has also been revealed that Britpop legends Blur will be honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music crown. Previous winners include Paul McCartney, U2, Queen and The Who. The band have confirmed that they will perform at the awards, for the first time since they reformed in the summer of 2009.
