Marina Bay, Singapore
This street circuit was the first to host an F1 race by night, which since 2010 has been illuminated by a state-of-the-art lighting system which is an event in itself to set up.
The route, recently modified to allow overtaking on some of the turns, takes in historical landmarks such as the Raffles Boulevard and 100-year-old Anderson Bridge.
Singapore is the perfect stopover for travellers heading further across the continent but its Grand Prix offers an opportunity to experience the city-state at its best. With the racing taking place at night, during the day visitors can make the most of attractions such as the Singapore Flyer – the world’s largest observation wheel – and the Substation, the island’s first independent contemporary arts centre.
The range of restaurants is a cultural attraction in itself, its cuisine drawing on flavours from Malaysia, China, Indonesia, India and the UK, with traces of Thai and Middle Eastern also in the mix. If it’s an extravagant meal for a special occasion you’re looking for, we recommend My Humble House on Raffles Avenue.
When you’re not watching the racing, nightlife in Singapore caters for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a lazy cocktail on Sentosa Harbour Front, the buzzing bars of Clarke Quay, or an evening of glamour in one of Orchard Road’s hotel bars, one of our lifestyle managers can recommend the best place for you.
