The Cambridge Theatre, Earlham Street, London WC2 9HU
Previews from 18 October. Opening night 22 November.
A stage adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic, Matilda the Musical has so far been a huge success both with critics and theatre-goers. The Royal Shakespeare Company joined forces with the multi-award winning musical comedian Tim Minchin last year to create this spirited production, which looks set to become big news when it arrives in London in October. Minchin and scriptwriter Dennis Kelly strike an assured balance between cartoonish, light-hearted comedy and darkly-edged satire to create a rebellious and witty show.
The adult cast features established talent such as comedian Paul Kaye, but the real delight is the charm and vocal range of the three young actresses who play Matilda. The opening run in Stratford was greeted by standing ovations, five-star reviews and several awards, including the London Critics’ Circle Theatre Award, meaning that tickets for the West End opening are already selling quickly. However, thanks to our contacts in the theatre industry we are still able to book seats, so if you want to be one of the first to see it in the capital call the Theatre team now to discuss availability.
And if you are planning a trip to London this month, don’t forget to speak with one of our specialists, who are always happy to offer advice and support to help you find the right hotel or restaurant.
