The UK’s largest independent film festival, now in its 19th year, has premiered The Blair Witch Project, Memento and Capturing the Friedmans. It presents awards for Best International Feature and Short, Best UK Feature and Short, Best Documentary Feature, and Best Debut. Stars from behind and in front of the camera turn up to see who and what the jury – which has comprised the likes of Judi Dench, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed – deems worthy of recognition.
