One of a number of shortlisted albums from the UK and Ireland – chosen by a panel of musicians, journalists and music industry figures – is announced the winner of this prestigious prize.

Last year’s triumph was the little known Speech Therapy by Speech Debelle, preceeded by Elbow’s The Seldom Seen Kid in 2008 and Klaxons’ Myths of the Near Future in 2007, with other winners including Arctic Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal, Portishead and Primal Scream.
