Our in-house golf pro, Neil Docking, recently played the two golf courses at this superb French resort. He says:
‘If you’re looking for a complete holiday without having to leave the resort, Four Season’s Terre Blanche Resort in the South of France is the place. Come here for the spa treatments, getting golf lessons to improve your game, playing on one of the two high-quality golf courses and, when you have some free time, relaxing by the pool.
‘As well as the two courses, there is a Leadbetter Academy and a BioMecaSwing Performance Centre at the resort. The Academy is home to the French National Amateur Team and the Biomechanics Performance Centre is used by lots of top sports stars as well as golfers. There’s also an amazing spa and four restaurants to keep you just occupied enough.
‘I played the Chateau course, which is the more difficult of the two, but I found it to be a fair test of golf. There are some tight holes and off the tee I made the wrong choice a few times, so be sure to check that stroke saver. I thoroughly enjoyed my round and I wouldn’t be surprised if the European Tour makes a stop at this course in the near future.
‘It reminds me a little bit of Fancourt in South Africa and, funnily enough, the owner of Fancourt and the owner of Terre Blanche are friends. As with Fancourt, there is no big hotel, the rooms are built separately and are self-contained. This adds some privacy to your stay.
‘I went for a day and felt cheated because there is so much to do that you just can’t fit it all into a day or two. Plan to stay longer, get a feel for the courses and take full advantage of the resort.’
