Los Angeles is a city of comers and goers, many of whom dream of taking Hollywood by storm. But away from the fierce ambitions of the waiters and waitresses, at the city’s core, LA is just plain cool. With chic hangouts, great beaches, sunny movie-set suburbs and a veneer of glamour, it’s hard not to find something to like about the place.
Let us know if you’re planning a trip and would like your LA laid-back or lively, or a bit of both, and our experts will put together bespoke suggestions to show you the best of this energetic city. The below are some of our favourite places in the City of Angels at the moment.

Explore
Hollywood Hills
It’s a thrill to see those white capital letters, curving along the Hollywood Hills. Debate is fierce about the optimum viewpoint, but you don’t need to get that close – the best view is from the ground. If curiosity gets the better of you, ask a lifestyle manager to book a million-dollar celebrity homes tour, or take a car up yourself (be aware that it’s narrow and steep).

Shop
Flea markets
For many Angelenos, Sunday means brunch and a trip to rummage for vintage finds. There’s a market to suit everyone, from small-scale operations at local high schools like the Melrose Trading Post, to the world-renowned Rose Bowl, with over 2,500 vendors. Call us for the best coffee shops nearby when you need a break.

Eat
The Bazaar by José Andrés
465 South La Cienega Boulevard, Beverly Hills
José Andrés has brought playful and intelligent Spanish cuisine across the pond. Admire both the Philippe Starck interior and celebrities enjoying abstract dishes like the olive bombs – a miracle of modern science in homage to their creator, Ferran Adrià. Complimentary champagne is served to our members upon arrival.
Drink
The Sayers Club
1645 Wilcox Avenue, Hollywood
Not many people know about this club, and those that do keep it a well-guarded secret. It’s through an unmarked yellow door inside the Papaya King hotdog emporium and, due to its exclusivity, getting in here can never be guaranteed. However, call us and we will speak with our contacts and try to arrange entry.

Stay
Andaz West Hollywood
8401 Sunset Boulevard
Redolent with history, the original hotel opened in 1963 and gained a reputation as a popular party spot for the Rolling Stones. After a full refurbishment in 2009, it is now a fresh face on the Sunset Strip, close to The Viper Room and Whisky A Go Go.
The 257 rooms are ultra-modern and the balconies that were once famed for having televisions thrown off them are now glass-enclosed sunrooms. The restaurant RH puts a French twist on the best Californian ingredients, and the sundeck next to the rooftop pool is the place to enjoy a cocktail at sunset.
By booking through lifestyle concierge, you will receive the hotel’s best available rate thanks to our Global Hotel Collection partnerships. Our members receive complimentary breakfast for two guests, room upgrade based on availability, early check-in/late check-out, welcome gift, complimentary wi-fi and a healthy mini-bar.
