One of our VIP events specialists Olivia Thomas says: 'With the Grammys, BAFTAs, Brit Awards and Oscars, February is a big month for film buffs and music fans. We can organise tickets to both awards ceremonies and exclusive viewing parties.'
'The pinnacle of the film awards season, the Academy Awards take red-carpet glamour to stratospheric heights. To win an Oscar is the ultimate accolade for anyone working in the film industry, and here in the UK the BAFTAs have an equally high standing. There's nothing to match the glamour of these ceremonies, in any industry.'
‘Music awards, on the other hand, are where the drama takes place, and the Brit Awards will probably always be remembered for that Jarvis Cocker-Michael Jackson moment. This event, the Grammys and the MTV Awards still attract the biggest names from the worlds of pop, rock and R&B, and usually see some highly unlikely collaborations take place.’
In the months leading up to February every year, the Oscar and BAFTA buzz is deafening. Who and what films have been nominated are on every film fan's lips, and who will win is even more so. When the ceremonies themselves roll around, they're as much about the dresses, the tuxedos, the shoes and the hair as they are about the happy winners. Talk is about who made a faux pas during their acceptance speech, who bored on, who entertained, who the surprise winners were and who had it in the bag from the beginning.
Our VIP events team can arrange for members to attend many of the major awards ceremonies, or one of the exclusive Oscars viewing parties, which many of the Hollywood elite (not nominated that year) prefer. These usually comprise a lavish drinks reception, a sumptuous sit-down meal, DJ sets by some of the best talent in town and entertainment extras such as casino gaming tables – all of this while the awards are shown on giant plasma screens. At the 2010 Oscars, members attended parties thrown by Elton John, Vanity Fair and Esquire magazine, as well as the Night of 100 Stars viewing party and dinner, Hollywood agency ICM's pre-Oscar party and Oprah Winfrey's morning after show.
Film premieres spread a little of this glamour and excitement throughout the rest of the year. Like the awards ceremonies, the anticipation of a film's release is rewarded by the starry turnout to the screening, and the movie's reviews garner almost as many column inches as the frocks and the after-parties. Mostly taking place in Leicester Square, these are gloriously theatrical affairs, often with themes, scenery or live action accompaniments taking place along the red carpet before the film is shown. The director, producer or stars of the film will usually introduce the movie, and after the credits stop rolling it's on to a cool club or grand venue for the after-party.
