Here are some of our favourite Med-style restaurants. Call us to make bookings, or for more tips on where to dine near you. We can also source Mediterranean produce, from balsamic vinegars and virgin olive oils to different kinds of pastas, from trusted suppliers such as Nonna’s deli at the York & Albany. And if you want an authentic Med view to go with your buffalo mozzarella or succulent chargrilled Greek lamb, we’ll arrange that too.
Aphrodite Taverna
15 Hereford Road, London W2 4AB
This cosy family-run venue has long been a favourite of Maida Vale locals but its fame draws plenty of discerning diners to West London for classic Greek cooking. The houmous and calamares are both highly recommended, as is the fragrant herb-laden lamb kléftiko. There’s always a warm welcome, and the Taverna is packed most nights – call us to book you a table.
The Salt Yard
54 Goodge St, London W1T 4NA
The stylish Salt Yard deftly combines Spanish and Italian cooking on its tapas-style menu. Diners perch at the bar for lunch from the charcuterie, while in the evening there’s a lively atmosphere as couples and groups of friends share stuffed courgette flowers or rosemary pork belly with cannellini beans. Sister venue Dehesa is a touch more laid-back, and its Carnaby Street location makes it a good place to refuel after a day’s shopping. Call us to arrange a reservation.
Lemonia
89 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 8UY
Lemonia specialises in authentic Greek-Cypriot cooking, and its diverse menu offers everything from lamb koftas to chargrilled chicken and moussaka to mezes with taramasalata and tzatziki. Ask us to book a table in its conservatory which, when flooded with light on a summer’s day, is the closest you’ll get to Protaras without having to venture further than Primrose Hill.
Olivo
21 Eccleston Street, London SW1W 9LX
Olivo was the first in Mauro Sanna’s collection of restaurants, carving out a corner of Belgravia dedicated to the rustic, hearty flavours of Sardinian cooking. Pasta dishes include spaghetti served with mullet roe, a house speciality, while mains feature chargrilled beef with juniper berries and sea bass sautéed with venaccia wine. Olivomare, its sister venue, is the capital’s only Sardinian restaurant dedicated to seafood, serving up recipes from the deep bays and rocky shores of the Mediterranean island.
Moro
34-36 Exmouth Market, London EC1R 4QE
The Moorish occupation of Spain in the Middle Ages left an indelible mark on the country’s architecture, culture and cuisine, and it's the latter that Moro brings to Exmouth Market. Its menu blends North Africa with Southern Europe, featuring Syrian lentils alongside Iberian jamón, and grilled lamb with farika next to wood-roasted pork. Go with a friend and share a selection for a taste of both worlds.
Sardo
45 Grafton Way, Fitzrovia, London W1T 5DQ
This family-run West End favourite focuses on Sardinian specialities that encapsulate the bold flavours of the Med. A fragrant tomato sauce complements the grilled squid, tuna and swordfish carpaccio are served with a simple olive oil dressing, and the hearty home-made sausage is infused with aromatic herbs. It’s an unpretentious venue, and its ever-changing seasonal menu usually justifies several return visits.
